I've always had a positive experience and learn something new about caring for my cat either from the receptionist, staff, or doctors. The environment is restful and not rushed or noisy. It's a perfect environment for cats who get stressed out easily.
All the staff showed a great deal of respect to us and to our cat who does not like to go the vet. It was a very pleasurable experience.

I would give you a top rating because of your staff's unfailing courtesy to me and their kindness to Teddy, and for your professional knowledge and expertise.
What's most important to me is that my cats receive veterinary services from a place that I trust. I know my cats are in good hands with you. It's a bonus that the place and all of you are a pleasure to visit.
In 1998, during a petsitting assignment, my co-worker and I discovered that 12 cats and kittens had been left in the fruit cellar of this home by a mentally ill friend of our client, who was attending family business in Florida. It quickly became apparent that many of these cats had acute medical problems, as well as being filthy. The doctors and staff at our new vet service, CATS EXCLUSIVELY, immediately stepped up to assist us. Two of the male cats, about a year old, were diagnosed with severe ear problems, due to longstanding mite infestations. Dr. Fleming surgically opened Morris's ear so that he could hear again. The other cat, Comet, needed extensive ear and eye cleansing in order for him to hear. Both of these kitties were found loving homes and lived long lives. The other cats in this "rescue" were similarly successfully treated. The very professional, gentle attention given these "inner city throwaways" endeared CATS EXCLUSIVELY to our family forever! Drs. Andy, Michelle and Bob, the techs and office assistants, are considered part of our family. They continue to provide both routine and sometimes, miraculous care of our feline companions. -- Patricia Culver, Skedaddle and Tinkerbelle

To whom it may concern,
This letter is to inform you of the incredible professional service and personal care that I received on Monday, April 21, 2011, from Charles Andrew Fleming, DVM, and his staff at Cats Exclusively, Pittsford, New York.
I have been a client of Dr. Fleming’s practice for approximately eight years, since my move to Rochester, NY. During this time he assisted my husband and I in the transition of our older cat into a peaceful, pain-free death and now is assisting us in caring for two adopted adult cats. He has always shown respect and concern for my cats as well as myself – the worried cat-companion who wants what is best for those felines entrusted to my care. I have recommended him to many of my friends and colleagues; I trust him with those most dear to me.
Although I have always known Dr. Fleming to be a highly informed and companionate health-care provider, it was not until April 21st when I realized how far he and his staff would go to help a client and patients in need. I would like to share my story with you so that you too can know of the good name that he brings to your profession.
On the morning of April 21, 2011, I went to pet my cat, Billy, before leaving for work. Billy is somewhere between 3-7 years old and was found as an abandoned cat. A local shelter kept him for nearly a year until he found me. He has been with me for just over a year. During this time I have learned when he does not feel well and when to take him to Dr. Fleming. It was that morning when I noticed that his right eye (which normally waters) had an unusual amount of “goop.” I cleaned his eye and headed to work. As I drove I became worried and called Cats Exclusively. I explained Billy’s situation to Lisa, Dr. Fleming’s knowledgeable front desk assistant. She was able to get me an emergency appointment early that afternoon. I left work and returned to my cat. I took him to Dr. Fleming who saw us immediately. My emergency appointment turned into a full hour consult with a complete eye exam where Dr. Fleming discovered a small ulcer on Billy’s eye. He showed it to me and reasoned that Billy may have contracted Herpes sometime in the past and now was having an outbreak. Dr. Fleming clearly informed me what to watch for in future outbreaks and how to watch for squinting, pupil changes, and irritation. I left the office with antibiotics in the case of a secondary infection, and feeling informed and ready to continue to look after Billy and his new issue.
Upon returning home I put the cat carrier down and released Billy to his toys. At this point my second cat, Greta, an adopted three-year old Himalayan approached me… with large amounts of “goop” oozing out of her left eye! I could not believe what I was seeing. No sooner had I unzipped my carrier than I was back on the phone to Lisa. When I told her what was happening she told me to hold on – some quick discussion in the background was followed with two questions: how far away do you live and can you leave now? I scooped up Greta and returned to Cats Exclusively (while scooping her I also realized that she had feces on her back end – I tried to brush it but she was much to upset). My anxiety only matched my embarrassment: how could I have missed her eye, too? And, then, the feces… Quickly, Dr. Fleming called me back and looked at Greta (who does not like being examined). She hissed to be left alone – no doubt very unhappy and likely in pain. To save me discomfort, he took her to the back room where his veterinary technicians assisted in the examination and removal of the feces. Once complete, Dr. Fleming called me into the examination room where he explained that they had done the same exam on her as they had on Billy, only an hour prior. In this case, however, it was not Herpes but a bacterial infection. Again he explained what to watch for in the infection and how to care for her eye. She was released to me with a prescription to fight the infection.
When I went to leave I realized the totality of the day: two emergencies; two cats; two ailments, and one veterinarian who dropped what he could to respond as immediately as possible.
I have always known that Dr. Fleming would give the finest care to my cats, but to ask so much in one day seemed to border on the absurd. I thanked him heartily and his reply was straight-forward, “This is what we do.”
As a University Professor, I understand the obligations that individuals have to students, patients, and clients of all sorts; however, when someone not only takes those ethics to heart and goes beyond what many would consider reasonable, they should be commended for the example that they show not only as a professional in practice, but as a person with compassion. There is no real way to thank Dr. Fleming for making time for my cats that day – no doubt breaks were missed and the day grew late, but I hope that he knows that because of his prompt and thorough care I was able to ease my cats’ pain and my anxiety over their health.
The New York State Veterinary Medical Association should be proud to have Dr. Fleming practicing in this state and serving as a model of professional, compassionate care to the animals that are entrusted to us. It is professionals like Dr. Fleming that give animal companions the relief and support that, at times, is so desperately needed.
Thank you for your time.
THANK YOU, DR. ANDY AND STAFF
A TESTIMONIAL TO CATS EXCLUSIVELY
If you have just moved into the area or live in Rochester and are looking for new veterinarian care for your feline children, I present my thoughts for your review. This is an unsolicited testimonial, prepared by a loyal and grateful patron of Cats Exclusively.I hope this statement helps you in selecting a veterinarian practice for your loved ones. There are many Vets to choose from in our area, and sometimes it requires a period of trial and error before you find the Vet you feel is best suited for your needs. I went through this selection effort when I moved to Rochester in 2004. I had two beautiful adult cats, a male and female. I went through two practices my first year here until I found Cats Exclusively.I won’t go into depth about why I did not like the first two practices. One serviced both dogs and cats and I decided I wanted a feline specialist and an environment free of canines when visiting the office.
I did not return to the second practice as I just did not “click” the Vet’s style.I then took a chance and looked up veterinarian services in the Yellow Pages and found a Vet that serviced only cats which was located on the East side of Rochester; Cats Exclusively.I made an appointment and at first brought in one cat to determine if I wanted to continue with this new Vet. That is when I was introduced to Dr. Andy Fleming (“Dr. Andy” or “Andy” as we call him) and his great staff. When I left the office I felt good that I had found my local medical resource to take care of my feline children. Having been through multiple veterinarian practices over the years, I was able to compare them to others. Ever since that first visit, I have never ever been disappointed with the medical care and treatment my cats and I received at Cats Exclusively.
COMPASSION…..in addition to medical competency, this is something we all look for in practitioners who treat both humans and animals. You don’t always find that caring touch and concern when dealing with medical personnel/staff who deal with patients all day long. It can be an occupational hazard to become hardened to the daily grind of providing medical service day after day. Sometimes staff will just get by performing a basic, acceptable level of service until time to go home.At Cats Exclusively, you are always treated with the utmost respect and compassion for humans and animals alike. This level of service exists all the time! The staff goes way beyond “just performing a job” until they get to go home. You never feel like you are being treated like a number or bothering them with questions. If you have animals long enough, you have gone through good times and bad, facing illnesses andaccidents, treatments of all kinds, and the eventual moment of finality, when it is time for your loved feline to pass on.Throughout all of my years of dealing with Andy and his staff, they have always been professional, kind, and caring and helped me get through the emotional issues related to my “kids.” I never felt embarrassed about showing my emotions. I was never rushed out the door or pushed aside so they could to get the next patient in, no matter how much time it took to complete the visit. And there were multiple times the staff stayed late to complete a test or finish a procedure. So when my precious boy was diagnosed with a death sentence of cancer, and I realized there was nothing I could do to prevent this, it was Andy who was there to comfort me. There I was, an adult male crying my eyes out in front of him streaming with emotion. Andy placed his arm around me, did not make me feel like an emotional cripple, and helped calm me down. He assisted me out of the office graciously with his promise that we would go through this together and he would do whatever he could to make the situation better for both critter and human. And when it was time for my boy to go, Andy accepted my personal request to make a house call so he could pass on in the comfort and security of his own home. Now….how many times to you see that? Andy and his staff always return phone calls promptly. Melinda and Lisa and the vet tech’s are always helpful, thoughtful, sensitive to the needs of the care givers and treat the animals as if they were their own.And then came a time when I was laid off from my job and did not have the money to pay my bill in full. Since I had been with them for a while and demonstrated I had always paid for services, I was permitted to pay off my vet bill over a period of time. I wasn’t pressured to pay up or be booted out the door. How many medical providers today do you know who will offer this kindness and flexibility?I hope this information has helped you in making a decision to visit Cats Exclusively and take advantage of Andy and his staff. I highly recommend them and over the years have never been disappointed. How many of us can say that about the service they receive for anything? Cats Exclusively is consistently a competent, friendly, caring, and compassionate veterinarian practice and I urge you to stop by and visit them.
