My cat is indoor only, does he/she need a rabies vaccine?
Yes. Rabies vaccines are required by law in New York State.
My cat has lost weight recently, is this normal?
If you have not been making a conscious effort with diet change and exercise to make your cat lose weight, no, it is not normal for a cat to lose weight suddenly. Weight change is a signal that your cat needs a check up.
When should I spay or neuter my cat?
We recommend spaying or neutering your kitten at 4-5 months of age. Although this surgery can be done as early as 8-10 weeks of age, we prefer to do the procedure when the patient is a little older. We do recommend that the spay be done before a female goes into her first heat because this greatly reduces the chance for mammary tumors in her future. Also, performing the procedure before your kitten reaches sexual maturity will hopefully prevent the urge to territorially scent mark with urine.
What forms of payment do you take at your office?
Payment is expected at the time services are rendered or upon discharge of the patient from the hospital. We accept Cash, Visa, Master Card and Discover. We are pleased to announce that we now also accept Care Credit.
We make every effort to keep the costs down and therefore, we do not permit in-house charging. Extended payment plans can be obtained from Care Credit. (www.carecredit.com)
We encourage you to discuss fees before services are rendered. We routinely provide a written estimate with major surgeries and hospitalization. We are happy to present you with an estimate for any and all services.
Cats Exclusively also has a Wellness Plan designed to help you budget planned expenses. Please ask any of our staff or check out the Wellness Plan page on our website.
Q: How often should I scoop my cat's litterbox?
A: At least twice a day. We recommend keeping your cat's litterbox as clean as possible. Remember, if they still lived in the wild they would choose a brand new place to "go" every time.
